RRB NTPC 2026 photo requirements at a glance
The Railway Recruitment Board requires a passport-size photograph at 3.5×4.5 cm (413×531 pixels) in JPEG format, between 10 KB and 40 KB, with a white background. How the binary search compression works
JPEG compression quality is a value between 0 and 1. Higher quality means larger file size. Instead of guessing which quality setting hits 30 KB, this tool runs a binary search — starting at quality 0.5, checking whether the output is above or below the target, then halving the search range. After 14 iterations, it converges to within 1 KB of the target. The result is always within the 10–40 KB range: the binary search finds the highest quality that stays below your chosen preset, and a separate minimum check ensures the output never falls below the 10 KB portal floor.
